What We Stand For

What we stand for.

Six commitments, and how we keep them.

Acknowledgement of Country

Keevs Construction acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Every metre of ground we work was cared for long before us.

Our purpose

Get the ground right, and everything above it follows.

From the ground up is how we work: engineering before excavation, a clear scope before mobilisation, and the right foundations under everything we deliver. The six commitments that follow are how we hold ourselves to it.

At a glance

Six commitments, on every site.

Each one is a promise and the practices that deliver it.

Commitment

01

Engineering

An engineer’s eye on every metre we move.

01 · Engineering

Engineering before excavation, on every job, at every size.

Keevs began as an engineering-led contractor and still runs that way. Before a machine is mobilised, an engineer has set the scope, the method and the checks it will be held to.

How we deliver it

  1. Engineers lead scope definition and coordinate with the designers from the first site visit.
  2. Every job runs on a written methodology and a QA plan, with sign-off at every milestone.
  3. Our engineers work inside Tier 1 infrastructure teams and bring that discipline back to our own sites.

02

Safety

Everyone goes home, every day.

02 · Safety

Anyone on a Keevs site can stop work, without question and without consequence.

No program, date or margin is worth an injury. We design safety into the method in the office, so it never depends on luck on site.

How we deliver it

  1. Hazards are designed out in the methodology before the work is priced.
  2. Safe work method statements are written with the crew who use them, and reviewed at every prestart.
  3. A dedicated safety and compliance lead works across every job, every week.

03

Local

Built by the regions we build in.

03 · Local

Local crews, local suppliers and local subcontractors first, on every regional job.

We work across Newcastle, the Hunter, the Central Coast and the Mid North Coast. The people, plant and materials on our jobs come from those regions first, and the skills stay when we leave.

How we deliver it

  1. A local supplier and subcontractor register for every region we work in.
  2. Crews hired and trained through our offices in Thornton and Port Macquarie.
  3. Local content planned at tender.

Commitment

04

People

Room for anyone who’ll do the job properly.

04 · People

We hire for character, train for skill and pay for the training.

A contractor grows as fast as the people it trains. We build crews that look like the communities they work in.

How we deliver it

  1. Veteran employment through the Veteran Employment Commitment.

05

Country

Building on Country with respect.

05 · Country

Acknowledge Country on every site, and grow Aboriginal participation in our crews and our supply chain.

Every Keevs site sits on Aboriginal land. We acknowledge that on every job, and we work with Traditional Custodians and Aboriginal businesses, not around them.

How we deliver it

  1. An Acknowledgement of Country in every site induction, tender and email signature.
  2. Aboriginal businesses engaged through Supply Nation, and APIC targets met on NSW government work.

Commitment

06

Environment

Leave the ground better than we found it.

06 · Environment

Protect every waterway we work near, and leave every site cleaner than we found it.

Civil work moves earth, water and habitat. We plan erosion, sediment and spoil before we break ground, protect the waterways we work beside, and reuse what we dig.

How we deliver it

  1. Erosion and sediment control designed into every method, and checked after every rain event.
  2. Excavated material reused on site wherever the engineering allows.
  3. Recycled aggregates specified wherever the client and the standard approve them.
